'Fast and Furious 7' Release Date, Cast and News Update: Kurt Russell Reveals Script is “Catastrophic” After Paul Walker’s Death
Paul Walker's unexpected death has sent scriptwriters and directors of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise into a turmoil trying to figure out how to deal with his character, Brian O'Connor in the upcoming car-focused film.
In a recent interview with Kurt Russell at the Sundance Film Festival 2014, the actor revealed that Paul Walker's death and having to deal with it is "catastrophic."
"They're having to rewrite, they're having to do whatever they're having to do to deal with the situation. It's catastrophic. It's the worst thing that could happen to a movie but it's not as bad as what happened to Paul," he told BBC in a report.
"So everything is in perspective. He was a terrific guy. And life is full of curveballs. It's just a situation that they'll work out and, at that time, I'll go back to work," the actor added in the BBC report.
It is not clear what role Kurt Russell takes in the film. According to BBC, the actor has been cast as a father figure of Vin Diesel's character while Yahoo and Us Weekly note that he was set to play Brian O'Connor's father.
Nevertheless, 'Fast and Furious 7' star Vin Diesel has posted a photo of himself with Russell and Walker on his Facebook account with the caption: "Kurt Russell, such an honor to work with... P.s. One from set..."
According to Russell, he only had one day left on the set when Walker died late November.
"At the time [of Paul's death] I had one day left [on set]," he said, "I don't know what is going to happen with that. It's obviously a difficult situation," he told BBC.
Russell is currently promoting 'The Battered Bastards of Baseball,' a documentary about his father's minor league baseball team at the Sundance Film Festival 2014, but expects to return to the 'Fast and Furious 7' set anytime soon this year.
