Pokemon Games Update: 'Pokemon Shuffle' Coming To iOS, Android Mobile Devices [Video]
The company behind the famous "pocket monsters" has announced that the "Pokemon Shuffle" game will finally be available on iOS and Android.
The "Pokemon Shuffle" is a puzzle game that was exclusively developed by Genius Sonority for the Nintendo 3DS console. The game's objective is for players to earn points by clearing the puzzle area through combining the same kind of pocket monsters horizontally or vertically.
This game is the Japanese company's first foray into the mobile gaming market in partnership with The Pokemon Company, which is in charge of marketing of the Pokemon brand.
According to the company's statement on its website, "By matching three or more Pokemon, players can deal damage and whittle down their opponents. Fans can even battle through difficult stages by utilizing Mega-Evolved Pokemon."
Players' knowledge of the different types of Pokemons will be put to test as matching the same type of monsters together will be more effective in knocking down the points of the gamer's opponents, noted Game Rant.
When a player begins a game, he is given five "hearts" to start with, according to Wired. These hearts act as "lives" for the players. Once the puzzle area gets too full or the player is unable to make new moves, the game ends and uses up one heart.
If one has already used up all the initial hearts, the player can wait for half an hour for the lives to regenerate. Another option available is to purchase additional hearts in-game.
The game, released in February, has already been downloaded 4.5 million times through the Nintendo eShop.
Development of the mobile version for Pokemon Shuffle is already in the works. Although the Pokemon Company announced that the game will be available this year, it has not stated an exact date when fans of the animated series could expect to get their hands on the game.
iOS users will be able to access it through the Apple Store while Android owners can expect it via Google Play. The mobile game will be available as a free download once it gets released this year and it seems to be banking on the success of the 3DS game to be replicated on the mobile version.
Other gaming titles are said to be coming soon from The Pokemon Company. Camp Pokemon, Pokemon Jukebox, Pokedex for iOS, Pokemon TCG Online and Pokemon TV are all being developed for mobile devices, reported Slash Gear.
