'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' Gameplay Details & Release Date: Naughty Dog's Multiplayer Game To Have 60FPS Rate
Ever since Naughty Dog's gameplay trailer for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was unveiled at the recent E3 conference in Los Angeles, many fans of the franchise have been eager to get their hands on the title. Reports have come out that the developers will make the multiplayer game at 60 frames-per-second to improve the visuals and experience of every player.
The developers initially revealed that it was gunning for 60fps for the Playstation 4 version of the game. However, it seemed that the people behind the upcoming title had a hard time achieving that objective and almost gave up on the target.
In February, game director Neil Druckmann spoke with Game Informer and shared what the team is facing during game development.
"The objective for us is just to make the best experience," said the director. "And right now we're trying to push the look."
During E3, the developers gave players a first look of the game and many were impressed. When asked about an update of the frames-per-second rating of the game, lead designer Kurt Margenau confirmed that they are still working on getting the game past the 30fps rate.
"If you look at the demo and just how much is happening on the screen... physics... it's insane," said Margenau in an interview with Game Spot on E3. "We want Uncharted to look like the best game we can possibly make."
The single-player campaign of "Uncharted 4" will come with 30fps rate while the team is still working on their 60fps target for the multi-player mode. Previous titles from the Uncharted series have run on 30fps, noted Gear Nuke.
But with the team successful in pushing "The Last of Us Remastered" to 60fps, it seems that Naughty Dog will be able to replicate the same thing with Nathan Drake's last chapter.
The release date of the title was also pushed back to 2016 from 2015, and it's highly likely that the developers will be able to achieve this given the time frame.
"Solid frame rate is the most important thing; that it's consistent," shared Margenau. "But in multiplayer, we are targeting 60fps still. So we know how it feels on the stick to have [60fps] for a multiplayer game, to have that responsiveness."
Meanwhile, the studio has already announced on the Playstation Blog in June 2014 that the upcoming video game's resolution will be at 1080p.
