'Empire' Season 2 Spoilers: Terrence Howard Says Lucious Lyon Character Plans to Clean Up Some Messes This Season
Terrence Howard is vowing to show "Empire" fans just what he's made of during Season 2 of the Fox Network smash hit series.
Attending the BET Awards in California, where he walked away with the trophy for Best Actor Sunday night, Howard hinted to ET his Lucious Lyon character will be even more riveting once the show returns on Sept. 23.
"This second season, we're going to find out what turned Lucious into who he is, and he's going to clean up some messes that were left in the last episode," he said.
The first season finale ended with Lucious behind bars and plotting a strategy against those he feels have somehow slighted him. "Game time b**tches," he utters during the episode's final scenes.
Earlier this month, series co-creator Lee Daniels shared a video of show co-star Taraji P. Henson, who stars as Cookie Lyon, on her first day back at work and she looked almost as drained and exhausted as she does in some of those scenes where she tries reasoning with Lucious.
When asked how she feels," the BET Award Best Actress Award winner responded "sleepy" and like "sh*t."
While recently in Monte Carlo promoting the show, Henson had to be hospitalized for exhaustion after inexplicably taking ill.
"She probably drank something when we were in Monte Carlo, but it was sad seeing her in there," said Howard. "She's much better, all skinny now. I need to get what she had."
According to Deadline, "Empire" is slated to increase from 12 episodes to 18 this season and be split between the fall and winter seasons. Season 2 confirmed special guests include Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz.
Reportedly, Daniels and show officials have also been busy trying to talk the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Denzel Washington into making guest starring appearances.
