Samsung Galaxy A8 Specs & News: The Thinnest Smartphone Offered by Samsung is Coming
Samsung is set to release another Galaxy smartphone and it will be their thinnest yet.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 is expected to be announced soon, according to GSM Arena.
The Galaxy A8 will have a nice and large 5.7-inch screen and will be just 5.9 mm thick.
One problem that Samsung had to solve was finding a way to fit the camera into the thin device. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge used the Sony IMX240 cam sensor, but that sensor would be too thick to be squeezed into the Galaxy A8. Instead of using a Sony cam sensor, Samsung will use its own ISOCELL LSI3P3 sensor, according to Phone Arena.
Samsung was able to trim the camera sensor to 0.20 inches, down from Sony's sensor that is 0.27 inches. The camera will still be a 16 megapixel (MP) camera just like the camera that comes with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
The Galaxy A8 will have a 5.7-inch 1080p Super-AMOLED screen. It will use an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and have 2 GB of RAM. For storage space, the Galaxy A8 will have 16 GB of internal room for apps, photos and files. A microSD slot will allow users to add more storage space.
Even though the Galaxy A8 is going to be very thin, a nice-sized 3,050 mAh battery will be used to keep the phone powered.
The Galaxy A8 is expected to come with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed.
The super-thin Galaxy A8 will have an all-metal body and is expected to weigh just 140 grams. The home button on the front of the device could also feature a fingerprint sensor that would allow usage of Android Pay and Samsung Pay. Also included on the front of the phone will be a 5 MP front-facing camera.
Samsung still has to officially announce the device and give it an on-sale date, but it sure looks like it will be an exciting device.
