BREAKING NEWS: Walter Reed Hospital in Shutdown, Unconfirmed Reports of Shots Fired
The U.S. Navy has alerted the Naval Support Activity Bethesda is currently on lockdown due to unconfirmed reports of an active shooter.
In a statement released by the U.S. Navy, all base personnel are sheltered in a place at the Naval Support Activity Bethesda. According to the statement from the Department of the Navy and Unified Command, "DOD Security Force, NIH Police Force and County EMS and Medics have responded and searching the area."
The Walter Reed Army Medical Center has been one of the flagship medical centers for the U.S. military. The center was named after Major Walter Reed, an army physician.

UPDATE 3 p.m. EST: Law enforcement searches found no evidence of a gunshot, and no casualties or injuries were reported.
Despite no evidence, non-emergency patient care at Walter Reed Medical Center has been suspended for Monday.
