R&B singer Ashanti was called out by club promoters and her fans for lying about the last minute cancellation of her show on Independence Day weekend, The Music reports.

According to Idolator, Ashanti was scheduled to perform at Mixx Nightclub in New York on July 3, but her show was abruptly canceled after fans already arrived at the venue to see her perform.

"The Foolish" singer took to Instagram to address the cancellation and blamed the promoter for shutting down the venue after police raided the club.

"Hey everyone unfortunately mixx lounge has been shut down by the promoter and the police..So I will not be there... Sorry for the inconvenience..." Ashanti wrote in an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

She added, "Sorry to all the fans... this was beyond my control I was dressed, on the way, and ready to turn up with you.. Until the promoter contacted my team & said it was shut down & not to come.. I hope at least you guys get your $ back!!"

Following her Instagram post, the club promoter and her fans called Ashanti out for lying. The promoter claimed that he canceled the show because of low ticket sales while fans corrected Ashanti saying that they were currently at the club waiting for her to perform and no police were present.

"We are open the promoter felt it was light and he cancelled her," the club promoter @mixxli wrote.

Meanwhile an Ashanti fan @heather_ashleyxo wrote, " It did not get shut down I waited there all night for you. Somebody me your friends were there and left Ashanti. Disappointed fans. I just left there it was not shut down at all."

Ashanti has yet to respond to backlash. Her last Instagram post was a video of herself and Ja Rule leaving rehearsal for their joint summer tour in Australia.
