Call of Duty Ghosts - Onslaught DLC Maps & Update: New Update Available Now; Should You Buy It?
Call of Duty gamers have been at the edge of their seats, patiently awaiting the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts - Onslaught. This week, however, marks the end of the waiting period.
The Call of Duty website now boasts Call of Duty: Ghosts - Onslaught" on the front of the Ghosts page and says that it is available on Xbox Live.
Some people have already had an opportunity to review it and the general consensus seems to indicate that gamers may have been expecting something slightly different than what they're used to. As Dan Whitehead said in a review of the game for Eurogamer.net, "it's a good map, but it feels familiar. Not that it specifically echoes any particular previous map, but just the feel of it, the use of space. The Infinity Ward polish is there - you can see the thought that has gone into every structure, every corner -- but in gameplay terms there's a sense that Call of Duty is bumping up against a glass ceiling of its own making."
However, with this being said, Onslaught looks like it could entertain gamers much more than the map packs used to.
"Once upon a time, just a few short years ago, a map pack was just that: four maps, packed together," Whitehead said. "In Onslaught, it's notable that the quartet of maps -- three new, one classic -- are no longer treated as the main attraction. They're the burger and fries in the Happy Meal. The toys that make the sale come in the form of an episodic addition to the Extinction sci-fi co-op mode and a slasher movie Easter egg."
