Haiti vs. Honduras Gold Cup 2015: Preview, Predictions, Lineup, Schedule, Stream
Haiti and Honduras will play for a knockout round spot when they face off in the final game of Group A's initial round of matches.
Both teams enter the final game with a solitary point. Honduras rescued one point from its last game against Panama. Andy Najar scored in the 81st minute to level the score and earn the team a point.
That point proved crucial as the team was coming off a 2-1 loss against the U.S. Honduras entered the tournament as a favorite to get out of Group A. Now it needs a big performance and some help to ensure that that dream remains alive.
Initially most would have looked at the schedule and claimed that Honduras was lucky to finish its group against Haiti. At the worst, it would have a chance to resolve its group status against the worst team in the group. No one wanted Panama's current situation of facing the U.S. in its final group game with the need for points.
Instead, Haiti has proven to be quite the team, tying Panama in the dying minutes and putting the American's on the precipice with a fine performance.
Haiti actually dominated the US for stretches with a tremendous display of speed on the counter. The U.S. defense often looked overwhelmed by Haiti's stubborn assault. In fact, Haiti should have tied the game but was stifled more than once by the solid Brad Guzan.
A draw puts both sides on two points and puts them precariously close to elimination. Panama already has two points and will be playing its game after Honduras and Haiti contest theirs. If the result of this game is a draw then Panama can play a safe game and look for a tie, thus guaranteeing second place in Group B.
Prediction: A 1-1 draw.
Start Time: 7 PM EST
The game can be streamed live on Fox Soccer 2Go.
