The metal band version of the Pebble Time, called the Pebble Time Steel, will start production this week, the company announced. Those who backed the campaign by putting in an early order for the device will receive the Pebble Time Steel before the end of the month, according to Android Central.

The Pebble Time Steel will be sent out to supporters of the Kickstarter campaign. There are versions of the watch with both a leather band and a steel band. Since there is a limited supply of bands, some backers of the campaign will receive their metal bands in a separate shipment from the device.

For those interested in the Pebble Time Steel that were not part of the Kickstarter campaign, they will have to wait to purchase the device when it goes on sale to the general public. The retail version of the Pebble Time Steel will not include the metal band, instead those bands will be sold as a separate accessory.

The original Pebble Time followed a similar process by sending out the device early to its Kickstarter backers in May. The Pebble Time is now available on a preorder basis to the general public through Best Buy.

The Pebble Time Steel has the same 64-bit screen that the original Pebble Time has. It has the same Gorilla Glass screen and metal bezel as well, CNet reported.

The Pebble Time Steel was able to increase the battery life to 10 days, up from seven days on the Pebble Time. This makes the Time Steel a tad thicker than the Time.

Buyers can choose between a gold, silver and black version of the Time Steel. The black color looks very similar to the regular Pebble Time watch though.

The future looks good for the Pebble Time Steel because smart straps are promised in the near future. These straps will allow for more features to be performed by the Pebble Time Steel. Some features could include heart rate readings, GPS and LED lights.
