Justin Beiber Deport Petition Hits 100K; White House to Respond?
After Obama has finished with the State of the Union, Obama and the White House are now tasked to respond to the petition to deport Canadian singer Justin Beiber.
CNN reports that in less than a week, over 100,000 Americans have signed the petition posted on the government's "We the People" platform that asks the Obama administration to revoke Justin Beiber's green card.
The petition created January 23 states:
WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Deport Justin Bieber and revoke his green card.
We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.
The 19-year old Pop sensation was arrested last week in Miami for DUI, drag racing in a residential street, driving with an expired license and non-violently resisting arrest. After his arrest, he admitted to taking prescription medicines, smoking marijuana as well as alcohol. He was set bail at US$2,500 and jetted to Panama for a quick vacation.
If convicted, the celebrity could face up to six months in jail but it is likely that he will get off with a lighter sentence seeing as how this is a first offence, says MSN.
Response from the White House could take time, weeks even months. This means Beliebers who started the counter-petition asking the Administration to "Stop Justin Bieber from getting deported. He is a human being and he makes mistakes. He does not deserve this," still have time. However, they still have a long way to go. To date, signatures are still under 3,000.
Beiber's arraignment is schedule on Valentines, February 14 in Miami.
