Apple is making improvements on its iPod Touch for the first time in three years. The company will speed up the processor and give it better cameras, according to CNBC.

With the updates to the iPod Touch, Apple is showing it is yet to give up on the music playing devices. Additionally, Apple added software to the iPod Touch that will allow it to use the new $10 per month Apple Music streaming service.

Apple first introduced Apple Music on June 30. The company has realized that music listeners have shifted to streaming services like Spotify over purchasing songs on an individual basis through a program like Apple's iTunes.

The updated iPod Touch devices will also come in new colors. Customers will have a choice of the new colors of gold, dark blue, black, and hot pink, according to Apple Insider. The Nano and Shuffle will also be available in these colors.

The new features added to the iPod Touch include a new 64-bit A8 processor. This is the same processor that was introduced for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The co-processor featured in the updated iPod Touch is the M8 chip. The M8 chip allows the iPod Touch to be a pedometer and track the steps of users, similar to the capabilities offered in devices like the Fitbit. This is also the co-processor that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus use.

By using the 64-bit processor, the iPod Touch will be able to support Apple's advanced gaming technology called Metal. This means that users will be able to play some of today's latest graphic-intensive games.

A brand new storage size for the iPod Touch was also added. For users with lots of songs and other media, a 128 GB iPod Touch was added to the lineup. This model will sell for $399.

The camera on the latest iPod Touch will rival the camera in the iPhone 6. It will be an 8 megapixel (MP) iSight camera on the back of the device. For the front-facing camera, the iPod Touch will be able to support FaceTime video chats.

Finally, the iPod's WiFi speeds have increased. Users will notice speeds up to three times faster than previous models.
