The Denver Nuggets are reportedly planning to let go of Ty Lawson before the 2015-16 NBA season either through trade or by releasing him in the coming weeks.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports confirmed that Lawson is on trading block and few teams have already inquired about a possible deal for Lawson.

However, no deal is imminent at this point because the asking price is still too high and teams believe Lawson's value is already on a downward trajectory.

Lawson was recently involved in another DUI case -- his second this year. It is also reportedly one of the reasons why teams are thinking twice in striking a deal for him.

"Few teams had Ty Lawson trade interest, but were waiting on Denver to lower cost," Wojnarowski wrote. "His value's cratered now. He needs to deal w/ his issues."

With no trade deal in sight, the Nuggets could also decide to waive Lawson. Reports indicated that the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams interested in the veteran playmaker, but it remains to be seen whether or not they will actually make moves to acquire Lawson before next season.

The Bulls are looking to retool their backcourt this offseason, and were reportedly interested in Jeremy Lin before the former Lakers point guard decided to sign with Charlotte Hornets. Lawson would have been a great addition to the Lakers as well, but they have already signed Lou Williams.

Lawson started in 75 regular-season games last season for the Denver Nuggets. The six-year veteran averaged 15.2 points on 43.6 percent shooting from the field on top of 9.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season.

However, Lawson became dispensable after the Nuggets selected Emmanuel Mudiay as the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Following the Nuggets' decision to draft Mudiay, Lawson was linked to a possible move to the Sacramento Kings, where he could reunite with former Nuggets coach George Karl. However, the reunion of Karl and Lawson in Sacramento appears unlikely after the Kings signed free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo to a one-year deal.

Lawson, who has spent his entire six-year NBA career in Denver, still hast two years left in the four-year, $48 million deal he signed before the 2013-14 NBA season. He is scheduled to earn $12.4 million in the upcoming season and $13.21 million in the 2015-16 NBA season.
