Tina Fey, Amy Poehler Reunite in ‘Sisters,’ See the Trailer [WATCH]
"Saturday Night Live" alums and comedy duo powerhouse of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have reunited on the big screen for another comedic take on the social and familial genre in "Sisters," according to Deadline.
When one hears the actress's names and the movie title, the first thing that pops to mind is Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly's "Step Brothers." After taking a look at the trailer, that sentiment is not a far off. The comedy of the lady duo has long graced audiences with eccentric behavior that culminates in over-the-top comedy that has usually been churned out by alums of the late night "SNL" university.
The film takes a look at two sisters that have long since moved away from not only the family home but their home town. That gives rise to a new wave of laughter when they both come home only to find that their childhood safety house has been sold and they have a small amount of time to clear out their old rooms, which have remained untouched by their aging parents.
The house is shown to have already been vacated, with the exception of the two sister's rooms that hail the typical teenage attire from the '80s.
The comedy ensues when they both decide they must throw one last party in their old home before it goes away for good, which leads to all kinds of different comical situations.
Fey and Poehler will also be joined by "SNL" alum sister Maya Rudolph along with Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin.
They certainly like to keep it in the family with "SNL" writer Paula Pell penning the script and Fey producing the film. Fey is joined at the producer's chair by Jay Roach and John Lyons. Executive producers for the film are Poehler, Jeff Richmond and Bryan Bell.
"Sisters" is expected to be released a week before Christmas, on Dec. 18.
