The Motorola Moto X is getting updated soon to its third edition. The official announcement could be coming very soon based on some invitations sent out by Motorola Thursday, according to CNET.

Motorola is having events in London and New York on July 28. The invitation that they sent out Thursday had a vague message: "Your relationship is about to change." The invitation is signed "XGX, Moto." The XGX, Moto signature is a hint that the Moto X and Moto G devices will be featured at this event.

The Moto X could be featured in two sizes, which might be why Motorola signed the invitation with two Xs.

According to leaked images, the Moto X could come in a 5.2-inch edition and a 5.7-inch edition, ZDNet reports.

Motorola uses a mostly stock version of Android. Other phone makers often put a custom user interface into the operating system. Since Motorola hardly touches Android, it means that it is one of the first group of phones to receive the latest version of Android.

The new Moto X could be called the Moto X Sport, which suggests that it will be rugged and possibly waterproof, Expert Reviews reports.

The Moto X Sport would retain the 5.2-inch screen but its camera would be upgraded from 13 megapixels (MP) to 16 MP with optical stabilization and 4K video support. The front-facing camera would be 5 MP.

The processor is expected to get an increase in speed and in cores. It is more likely that the Moto X uses a six core processor than a four core.

The Moto X could also have a fingerprint reader.

The 5.7-inch model of the Moto X is expected to have slightly better specs than the smaller device. Both screens will be QUAD-HD.

Motorola could be using the brand new USB-C port as well as a bigger battery.
