Real Madrid Transfer News: Manchester United Make Final Bid for Sergio Ramos; Arsenal Chasing Karim Benzema
Real Madrid is in possession of two of the hottest tickets this transfer window: Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos. Benzema to Arsenal looks like a done deal, but the Red Devils might encounter a slight problem bringing Ramos to the UK.
Ready for a final bid
Arsenal are all set to make a £40 million ($62.66 million) bid for French striker Benzema, according to the Telegraph.
Gunners head honcho Arsene Wenger said the club is already prepared to put in the big money offer for the French international on Monday.
Citing Spanish journalist Paco Gonzalez, Metro stated that Arsenal has already touched base with Real with a fixed bid. However, it is understood that Wenger will start making moves next week in search for more banner signings this summer.
Real is prepared to let go of Benzema as well, noted the Daily Star. Madrid boss Rafa Benitez said reshaping the Cristiano Ronaldo-led squad is in the works. However, Benitez said that they are still hoping to hike up the contract close to what Arsenal paid for Mesut Ozil in 2013 - a club-record £42.5 million ($66.5 million).
Wenger also said that if Real pushes for a higher contract than they are willing to offer, he will not hesitate to start the season with Olivier Giroud, with Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott leading the line, The Sun reported.
'Take it or leave it'
Before the transfer window opened, Manchester United have warned the Ramos camp that they won't allow themselves to be used as a bargaining chip in a contract game with Real Madrid, Goal informed.
Ramos has been vocal about wanting to depart with the Spanish club due to major differences, which emerged during contract negotiations, according to sources close to the player cited by The Guardian.
On the other hand, Red Devils manager Louis Van Gaal is still out eyeing for a defender to augment his lineup. Ramos has been a long-time target for Van Gaal. Two previous offers of £32.5 million ($51 million) and £42.5 million ($66.5 million) for Cuqui were rejected by Madrid, the Manchester Evening News recalled.
According to Express, van Gaal eyes the center-back and expects him to be part of a deal with David De Gea going to the UK. However, the Reds manager denied this at a recent press conference.
"I'm not negotiating with anyone," Ramos told Spanish TV show Cuatro, as quoted by Goal. Ramos and Real were reportedly demanding a £63 million ($96.69 million) bid to consider a transfer. Van Gaal believes he can negotiate to a lower fee given Ramos wants to leave the La Liga club.
