Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey explained why she took a swipe at Floyd Mayweather during the 2015 ESPY Awards night on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

Rousey and Mayweather were nominated for the Best Fighter award this year. The unbeaten boxing champion was favored to win after keeping his perfect record following a win against Manny Pacquiao, but Rousey took home the prestigious honor, defeating Mayweather.

In an interview after accepting her award, Rousey blasted Mayweather, saying that she is hoping that Mayweather is now aware who Ronda Rousey is, while also taking a shot at previous cases where the boxing champion allegedly hurt a woman.

"I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once," Rousey told ESPN hosts as quoted by BoxingScene. "I'd like to see him pretend to not know who I am now."

During her interview on America's Pregame, Rousey put into details why she decided to mock Mayweather during the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night.

"Somebody asked Floyd, 'What do you think would happen if you and Ronda Rousey fought?' And he said, 'Ronda Rousey? I don't know who he is.' And then someone explained who I am and he was like, 'I ain't know who that is.' It was a real subtle and snarky jab at me," said Rousey, who was quite sure Mayweather was trolling that time.

"I was actually nominated for 'Best Fighter of The Year' that year with him. So I know he knew who I was," Rousey added. "He actually has MMA fighters signed to him so I know he knows who I am."

Rousey also blasted Mayweather for his antics, comparing the reigning pound-for-pound king to former undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson.

Rousey met Tyson after her training session on Wednesday, and "Rowdy" said she witnessed how the former boxing superstar changed into a better man. She is hoping Mayweather will mature like Tyson in the future.

"I think there is a possibility for him to redeem himself, but I haven't seen that kind of effort from him yet," Rousey said of Mayweather. "Mike is a great example, where he has put on so much effort over the years to better himself as a man. He's owned up to the things he's done."

Rousey, who holds a perfect 11-0 record inside the UFC Octagon, will defend her UFC women's bantamweight title against Bethe Correia on Aug. 1 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
