Tour de France 2015 TV Coverage & Live Stream: Peloton Facing 201-Kilometer Course on Stage 16 Monday
The 2015 Tour de France riders will face a relatively uphill course in Stage 16 of the tour on Monday.
Tour leader Chris Froome and the rest of the pack will begin the day in Bourg-de-Peage and will have to travel 201 kilometers to Gap.
According to the official tour website, the 16th stage is critical for general classification leaders because of the tricky nature of the course. There will be two Category 2 climbs in Col de Cabre and Col de Manse, but the climb will not be the hardest part of the stage.
The climb could create gap between the riders, but Bicycling pointed out that the rider who could do well in the tricky decent from Col de Manse will likely win Stage 13.
Froome, who is comfortably ahead in the general classification, expressed concerned about the upcoming stage, where anyone could commit critical mistakes, but he is confident his team will be up to challenge and will help him retain his lead in the race for the title heading into the final five stages.
"We have got five real racing stages left and we are into the tail-end of the race now," Froome said. "There are some tired bodies out there on the road but we are in an extremely fortunate position in that we have got nine riders left who are still fit and healthy."
Froome is expected to maintain his lead heading into the second rest day on Tuesday. The Team Sky driver is three minutes, 10 seconds ahead of second-placed Nairo Quintana of Movistar and three minutes, 32 seconds ahead of third-placed Tejay van Garderen of BMC Racing.
