Country Superstars Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert Announce Divorce
The celebrity splits and divorces just keep coming: Country music stars, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, have announced they will be getting a divorce.
The couple, who have been married for four years and in that time have become one of country music's most powerful couples, announced their separation in a statement released on July 20, reported The Associated Press.
"This is not the future we envisioned," the couple said in the statement. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
Back in 2010, before the couple married in Texas, Lambert spoke to The Associated Press about her relationship with Shelton.
"We're a really normal couple," the singer said.
"We like to back road and hunt and fish. When we're home, we're not in that mode. We're not in work mode, but it's so great to have success together. Our careers have both taken a really good step in a good direction at the same time. I just think we have a really good relationship. It's really strong. We're best friends, and I can't see myself with anybody else."
The couple faced several rumors over the years about their marriage being on the rocks. According to E! Online, the couple made fun of all the speculation back in 2013 on Twitter.
"Hey @mirandalambert... I just read in a tabloid that our marriage is falling apart! FOCK!" Shelton said. Lambert responded to her husbands tweet with, "Oh no! Can't wait to read if we make it or not."
For Shelton, this is will be his second divorce. The country singer married Kaynette Gern in 2003, and the two split in 2006.
"That was easily the toughest thing that I've ever been through," Shelton told E! Online in 2014. "I put that, my divorce, up there with my brother's death, and that was a tough, tough call to make."
