Motorola is set to unveil new units on its July 28 event but rumors and leaks of one of its midrange smartphones continue to make the rounds of the Internet. A leaked photo of the Moto G dummy unit shows the device with an IPx7 certification, which confirms previous reports that the upcoming 3rd gen unit is water resistant.

The first leaked photos of the Moto G appeared on Mobile Syrup early Monday. The unit shown on the photo is the faux display unit, which has the plastic cover that enumerates the different features of the smartphone.

One obvious description in the dummy unit is the inclusion of the IPx7 certification, which many websites reported before.

According to GSM Arena, the certification proves that the midrange device will be water resistant for up to 1m of water for a maximum period of 30 minutes. However, this does not automatically mean that the unit is dust-proof as well, unlike other devices out in the market.

The dummy unit also confirmed initial reports that the device will have a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP shooter in front. The Moto G will also be LTE-capable and is outfitted with a quad core CPU.

Motorola has also made sure that potential buyers know the battery life of the unit as the dummy unit also indicated that the battery power of the Moto G 3rd gen is 2,470 mAh.

Meanwhile, it remains unconfirmed how much RAM the new unit will have. But a recent leaked import listing hinted that the new Moto G might have 2GB of RAM, said another report from GSM Arena.

The information came from the Indian export/import site Zauba, which noted that around 190 units of the Moto G 3rd generation arrived in India from China and Hong Kong for testing purposes.

The description revealed the RAM size as well as the price of the device in Indian Rupees. The listing also showed that the unit will come in two colors, white and black, and the black one will be cheaper than the white version of the unit.

But other reports have supported the idea that while the Moto G is a midrange phone, its power is not like its budget price. An earlier report published on Latin Post stated that based from the rumor mill, the Moto G will have a Snapdragon 410 chipset upgrade from the previous 400 version and will also ship out with the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Motorola has yet to confirm these rumors and it remains to be seen if the Moto G 3rd generation will be a market favorite when it officially unveils on July 28.
