NBA 2K16 will have some sort of college mode built into the game, according to Gameranx. Developer 2K Sports has already agreed to licenses with 11 college teams, with the possibility of several more to come.

Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova and Wisconsin are all set to appear in NBA 2K16. Beyond passing mentions to these college teams, 2K Sports has worked directly with the Collegiate Licensing Company to get these teams fully into the game.

Davidson and Kentucky could join the list as well because two of the cover athletes played at these schools, MVP Stephen Curry at Davidson and Anthony Davis at Kentucky. These two teams are not working with the Collegiate Licensing Company, so 2K Sports likely reached out directly to them.

The news of college teams in the game was first leaked when an achievements list hinted twice at their inclusion. The "Announce where your college ball will be played" and "Declare your intentions to enter the NBA Draft" both suggest that college teams will be included in the game, according to Playstation Lifestyle.

With the addition of collegiate teams, 2K Sports has gained exposure for including both college and professional teams. This may give the developer an advantage over competitor EA Sports, which is no longer able to make NCAA basketball games.

NBA 2K16 is not expected to include full college seasons, instead offering players some sort of "college mode." Still, this change would make the "MyPlayer" mode more realistic, as created players will have to perform well in college in order to be drafted in the NBA Draft.

NBA 2K16 will be released to the public on Sept. 29. Those who pre-order the game will be able to start playing Sept. 25.
