Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II first debuted over 10 years on the PC. Now, the game is receiving a big update that will also give it support on the Mac, Steam, and Linux operating systems.

PC World reports updates will make the game more modern, especially the way it will appear on the PC. Players will be able to display the game on a widescreen at up to 5K resolution.

Knights of the Old Republic II will now support Steam Cloud saves of the game and also the capability to play with an attached controller. This means that players will be able to plug an Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or other compatible controller and still play the game from their PC.

Players who like to use mods for the game will continue to be allowed to do so in this update. The game will be compatible with the Steam Workshop, so all mods will be supported across all platforms. One important mod that completes the game, called the Sith Lords Restored Content Mod, will fill in large chunks that were missing when the game was launched, could be coming soon, according to IGN.

There are now 37 new achievements that have been added to Knights of the Old Republic II. The fact that this game was updated comes as a big surprise, because it has not seen an update in years.

When the game was first released, it was a rather rushed release. Due to publisher pressure and running out of time, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II was a sloppy game at first and there were holes in the gameplay.

Because of the holes in the original game, the Restored Content Mod is a must-download. This mod will tie things together and provide meaningful endings to the game. The mod will also fix hundreds of bugs that plagued the game, Kotaku reports.

For fans of Star Wars: Knighs of the Old Republic II, the update comes as excellent news. Not only will PC players be able to play a refreshed game, but Mac, Steam and Linux users might also give it a try too.
