College Basketball Rankings & AP Poll: Syracuse Holds Top Spot; Arizona Moves to Number 2
The Syracuse University Men's Basketball team stormed into the top spot in the College Basketball AP Poll after knocking off a talented Duke squad over the weekend at The Carrier Dome.
Syracuse can partly thank Arizona, a team that previously held the number one spot before falling to California on Saturday, 60-58. Arizona now sits at the number 2 spot with a 21-1 record.
The Syracuse Orange is in first unanimously for the first time ever and the school is off to its best start in history. It does not come as much surprise to see Syracuse enjoying great success this season considering that the team has remained relevant throughout the course of head coach Jim Boeheim's career with the team. The last time to hold the unanimous top spot was Duke, who held the spot for a month and a half in the 2010-2011 season.
Some teams that made notable jumps this week, as you will see below, include Cincinnati, Creighton, and Villanova. Cincinnati skipped up from the 13 spot to no. 7 while Creighton jumped from no. 20 to no. 12. Villanova was already in the Top 10 at no. 9 but ended up moving on up to the sixth spot.
