'Five Nights at Freddy’s 4' Released Early on Steam, See Video Game Trailer [Watch]
Fans won't have to wait until October to enjoy jump scares in the fourth installment of the horror game franchise because the PC version of "Five Nights at Freddy's 4: The Final Chapter" was released on Thursday.
The "FNAF4" game quietly appeared on Steam on Thursday. It's available for $7.99.
"Ok, so as many of you already know, I'm bad with release dates. The game is finished. :)" Developer Scott Cawthon wrote on Steam.
The early release has not been without hiccups.
"I see there are comments about the full-screen option not working correctly, I'll have that addressed before the day is over. Few more minutes..." Cawthon wrote.
Cawthon, who notoriously teases his fans with guessing games, had announced "FNAF4" for a Halloween release back in April. There was a rumor that the release was moved up to Aug. 8 to coincide with the anniversary of the original Five Nights at Freddy's release.
Not all fans are thrilled with the early release, especially due to the bugs.
"Aw, damn, Scott, why must you always f*ck with us," Steam user Kassmire wrote in Cawthon's comment thread. "This would've been better and with less bugs if it had just come out on Halloween."
A mobile version of "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" has not been released, yet. Historically, "FNAF" games make their way to Android a few days after the PC release. The last two games made their Android debuts less than a week after the PC release.
Meanwhile, the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie adaptation of the indie horror games is said to be in the works. Several veteran producers have been selected to work on the film, including Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions, and Roy Lee, producer of the "Minecraft" film and "The Lego Movie."
Best of all, Cawthon is reportedly working on the movie project as writer, executive producer and an animator.
