Mexico and Jamaica will square off in the final Gold Cup game of this tournament. It's a winner take all championship game on Sunday night.

We began with 12 CONCACAF squads, but just two remain after group play and two rounds of the knockout stage. One of these teams has won this tournament a record six times, while the other is making their first trip to finals. The winner of this game will qualify for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

Let's break down these teams and predict a winner.

Mexico (40)

Mexico's ride to the finals couldn't be filed with more drama. They disappointed many fans by placing second in Group C behind Trinidad and Tobago. Mexico entered this tournament as the favorite to win it all as they have won the Gold Cup more than any other nation.

Miguel Herrera quickly turned things around in the knockout stage. They defeated and eliminated Costa Rica thanks to a penalty kick from Andrés Guardado. In the semifinals they defeated Panama in an extremely thrilling finish. Trailing 1-0 in the 89th minute of play, Guardado was once again awarded a penalty kick after Román Torres was called for a penalty and once again Guardado nailed it. In extra time Guardado made it 2-1 on yet another penalty kick.

With Javier Hernández out, Guardado has stepped up as the go-to guy and a great team captain. Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has been great in net, and he will be starting once again. Giovani dos Santos has been battling a leg injury, but he is expected to play against Jamaica. Carlos Vela, who has been a big disappointment, will not play in the finals because of yellow card accumulations. In all honesty, that may not be a bad thing for Mexico.

Jamaica (76)

You can throw away the rankings, seedings and favorites at this point. Jamaica may be ranked No. 76 in the world, but they have played fantastically in this Gold Cup thus far. While Mexico is making their eighth appearance in the finals, this is Jamaica's first ever Gold Cup final game.

But Jamaica isn't satisfied with just "making it" to the finals. After winning the Caribbean Cup last year to qualify for this tournament, they've more than shown they belong. Jamaica dominated Group B over this year's favorite, Costa Rica. Just like Mexico, Jamaica has yet to lose a single game in this Gold Cup so far.

Jamaica defeated Haiti 1-0 in the quarterfinals, and followed that up by upsetting the United States 2-1 in the semifinals. Jamaica has allowed just three total goals in their five games of this Gold Cup.

The biggest story of this Gold Cup has been Jamaica's goalkeepers. Dwayne Miller got injured earlier in group stage, but his backup Ryan Thompson has been playing phenomenal in goal. The only goal Thompson allowed was a fluke goal off a defensive rebound against the U.S. Jamaica doesn't have superstars like Mexico, but they are very balanced.

Darren Mattocks and Giles Barnes lead the offense, while Jermaine Taylor directs the defense. Team captain Rodolph Austin has a big responsibly in the middle field against Guardado.

Prediction

This is a tough one. I picked Mexico to win it all before the tournament began, so I should stick with my prediction. However, Jamaica has been a little more battle tested having beat the U.S. in the semifinals. This is going to be a low scoring game, and we'll probably see extra time. Maybe even a shootout. Home-field advantage may be the difference in this one as Mexican fans have been showing up in the tens of thousands to support their team roaring in support.
