'Gambit' Cast & Release Date: Casting Call Sheds Light To Potential Characters; Shooting to Start in October?
Channing Tatum's mutant superhero film, "Gambit," is set to hit theaters in 2016 but details on the upcoming film have been scarce and limited.
But a recent news article offered more information about the possible cast of characters in the movie.
According to Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411, he received a casting call list made for a movie with the title, "Chess," from 20th Century Fox. Although the writer did not mention how he came to the conclusion that the movie is actually for "Gambit," he claimed that it did not take him long to find out the truth.
In the list that Friedman mentioned, the studio was said to be looking for 14 characters. While majority of the characters were for minor roles, there were a few that seemed to stand out and offer insight to possible enemies for Gambit.
Cinema Blend came out with possible comic book equivalents to four of the names in the casting call list.
The character called "Louis" was described as a man between the ages of 40 to 50 with entrepreneurial kills but has a dark side. The website speculated that this character is really for Nathanial Essex or "Mr. Sinister" who used to employ Gambit.
Meanwhile, the description for "Vera" seemed to be a good fit to the possible female lead in the movie, Bella Donna Boudreaux. The character is a bosom buddy of Remy LeBeau, also known as Gambit.
The next character, "Nash," hinted at the possible inclusion of Julien Boudreax, Bella's brother, while "Fritz" could be a casting call code name for Remy's adoptive father Jean-Luc LeBeau.
The report also added that many of the characters include a potential sequel role. This led many to believe that "Gambit" will replace "Wolverine" in the series of "X-Men Origins" films after Hugh Jackman revealed that the next Wolverine movie is his last to play the clawed mutant superhero.
That might be a good thing considering the studio will shed big bucks to have it done. The movie will need an estimated $150 million in budget to make, wrote "Fast Lane," website of the Louisiana Economic Development.
The film, which is set to hit theaters on October 7, 2016, will begin shooting in October this year under the direction of Ruper Wyatt, noted IGN.
