Mazda is set to make new records with the unveiling of its 2016 MX-5 Miata Roadster. The Japanese car manufacturer returned to the roots of the original Miata with a "feature packed and stylish" roadster that will make any sports car lover green with envy.

One of the changes to arrive with the 2016 Mazda Miata Roadster is the bigger space in a smaller and more compact body, noted The Standard Daily. This ensures that the owners are given a more comfortable drive all the way.

Aside from that, the Japanese manufacturer took into consideration the high cost of fuel nowadays as it ensures that the sports car will be economical in its fuel consumption.

The manual version of the car has a 34 miles per gallon mileage when driven in a highway with a slightly lower rate in the city, with 27 mpg. A slight increase can be seen in the automatic version with 36 mpg in the fast lane while maintaining the 27 mpg in city-driving.

On the other hand, the latest model of the vehicle has a 155 horsepower from its 2.0L SKYACTIV engine. The output is way lower than the 2015 version, which has a 167 horsepower, reported News Ledge. However, it is still comparable since the 155 horsepower peak is for 6,000 rpm as opposed to the previous version's 167 hp rate at 7,000 rpm.

In essence, owners still get more from the new Mazda Miata than its predecessor.

It also has a 6-speed manual transmission and a wheelbase at 15mm.

Aesthetic appeal

The company has decided to make the car's look more classic. According to the Mazda's Vehicle Line Manager for North America, Rod McLaughlin, the designers opted for a more "timeless design."

"We want this car to look good 25 years from now, not just two or three years from now," McLaughlin told NY City Today.

The look resulted to a smaller car with bigger space. An additional 12mm leg clearance can be seen in the 2016 version. Aside from that, it feels more lightweight as an estimated 150 pounds have been shaved off from the current version as opposed to its predecessor.

Price

Mazda has offered three versions of the roadster depending on the owners' preferences.

The entry-level is priced around $24,915 while the mid-tier called the "Club" can be copped for $28,600.

The "Grand Touring" version, which is the most expensive version of the car, is available for $30,065.

But the company did not skimp on details. The Club version has a Bose 9-speaker audio system as well as a 7-inch touchscreen to access everything inside the vehicle.

On the other hand, the Grand Touring version speaks luxury with black leather and rain sensing wipers. It also comes equipped with blind spot warnings for the driver.
