Shakira & Rihanna Music Video Shunned by Colombian Politician, He Claims It "Promotes Lesbianism" and "Moral Decay"
You could say that Marco Fidel Ramirez, a politician from Shakira's native Colombia, wants to 'remember to forget' Shakira's latest steamy music video for "Can't Remember To Forget You" -- he claims that the Colombian singer and Rihanna's "gyrating and cuddling 'is a danger to children.'"
According to the New York Daily News, Marco Fidel Ramirez is calling on Colombia's National Television Authority to ban the 37-year-old's "Can't Remember To Forget You" clip from being broadcast on any of the nation's channels.
Fidel Ramirez has gone as far as to start a petition to have the country's National Television Authority ban Shakira's music video, saying it promotes immorality.
"The Public Option party councilor, from the capital of Bogotá, said the video 'damages the moral character of the youth of Bogotá, Colombia and Latin America.'"
While Ramirez is complaining, audiences are tuning in, with more 62 million YouTube views.
Ramirez also said the pair should be ashamed of the song he claims also promotes tobacco use, stealing and killing, the New York Daily News adds.
He took to Twitter to express his concerns, saying: "Our Shakira with her erotic video is promoting tobacco usage and has become the worst example for our youth."
"Shakira's new video is a shameless case for lesbianism and immorality. It is a danger to children," he added, using the hashtag #PeligroVideoShakira, which translates to "Dangers of Shakira's Video."
According to the New York Daily News, "Ramirez, who said the video was 'simply gross' and nothing more than an 'apology' for lesbians, added: 'It sends a provocative message to weak people who can be polluted and induced to practice (lesbianism).'"
