PS Plus Free Games 2015: Sony To Let Users Decide on Freebies via 'Vote To Play' Feature? [Rumors]
Playstation Plus members might soon be able to vote for games and titles they want free on the subscription service. A leaked video of a "Vote to Play" feature was seen on a PlayStation 4 console in the United Kingdom and it seemed that the option will soon arrive to Sony consoles all over the world.
NeoGAF user El_Cinefilo made the amazing discovery on his console. According to IGN, the user happened to be browsing the "What's New" section on the PlayStation Store when he saw the video called, "Vote to Play." User Carl then shared a transcript of the video on the NeoGAF forum.
How 'Vote to Play' works
The mechanics for "Vote to Play" seems simple. Members can vote on any of the three choices from PlayStation and just like any election, the most number of votes win. This title then becomes part of the following month's free game.
Meanwhile, for the losing video games, the two titles will be available at a discounted price.
According to Carl, the video also introduced the feature as "an exciting way to have your say on what you'd like to play next through PlayStation Plus."
PlayStation has been getting subscriber complaints over the titles they get every month. The "Vote to Play" feature could be the company's way to address the concerns of PS Plus members.
Possible game selections
PS Plus has already removed the video and PlayStation has yet to confirm the leaked feature and announce it officially. It's likely that the video was placed in error.
The user has also posted a screen shot of the current games up for voting and it showed the titles "Grow Home," "Zombie Vikings" and "Armello." In the photo, "Zombie Vikings" is leading the number of votes followed by "Armello." "Grow Home" is on the third spot.
The featured titles are a bit surprising since "Armello" is yet to be released for the PlayStation 4 in September while "Grow Home" has only been made available for the PC, reported Game Rant.
It remains to be seen if the "Vote to Play" feature will attract more subscribers to PS Plus.
While waiting for the company's official announcement, PS Plus subscribers can check out the recently announced free games for the month of August, which include "Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris," "Limbo," "Sound Shapes," "Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones," "God of War: Ascension" and "CastleStorm."
