Samsung Galaxy S6+ to Have Bigger Display, Smaller Price
Samsung is hosting an event titled "Unpacked" on Aug. 13.
At this event, the public is expected to see two new, large-screen phones from the company, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The updated Galaxy S6 Edge+ is expected to be more affordable than past Samsung devices, TechRadar reports.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ will take many of the same features from the Galaxy S6 Edge but will give it a bigger screen. A unique design feature of the Galaxy S6 Edge is the screen capable of displaying notifications that can easily be glanced at as well as the curved sides.
The screen on the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will grow to 5.7 inches and it will have a Quad-HD display. The curved edges will continue to appear on the bigger device.
Samsung has admitted that it plans to start adjusting its prices after reporting disappointing sales figures for its mobile phones division in the most recent quarter.
SamMobile, a website that focuses on Samsung, is reporting that the 32 GB model of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will cost about $875, without a contract. This is much cheaper than the off-contract price for the Galaxy S6 Edge of about $1,070.
Samsung's price reductions could come across the board on all of their popular devices, including the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The Galaxy S6 Edge has only been around since April and a price reduction on it as well as an updated version of it with a bigger screen and a cheaper price should excite some potential buyers.
The turn around from the Aug. 13 date to the actual on sale date of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be pretty quick. Techno Buffalo reports that the S6 Edge+ will start selling on Aug. 21 and the Galaxy Note 5 is expected to start selling around the same time.
