Seattle Seahawks players, including star cornerback Richard Sherman, have expressed support to Kam Chancellor's contract holdout.

Even before the training camp started, sources told ESPN.com that Chancellor was planning to skip training camp. Chancellor reportedly inked a four-year extension worth $28 million in 2013, and still has two more years left on his contract, which will run through 2017. The Virginia-born player is also set to receive a pay worth $4.55 million in the 2015 season, fully guaranteed.

However, Ian Rapoport noted that the 27-year-old football player feels he deserves more. The three-time Pro-Bowl player officially made his move by being absent on Friday's first training camp day, NFL.com informed, citing NFL Media's Steve Wyche.

Pete Caroll's Statements

Seahawks coach is said to be in constant communication with Chancellor, according to News Tribune. The Seahawks' coach regarded Chancellor as a "great part of the team" and said that he is one player that "stands for exactly what we love about this game and being a Seahawk."

"I see Kam as a champion warrior football player, part of this team, and one of the ultimate leaders of this team. Of course, we need to get him back," Caroll added.

Caroll also stated that he understands the player's "points" although the question, at this point, is how long Chancellor will be absent from the team activities.

Team mates' Support

Chancellor has the respect of his teammates, including Russell Wilson who recently signed a four-year deal worth $87.6 million, and Michael Bennett, who although complained about his $28.5 million contract and planned to miss out on games, he still reported to the Seahawks' training camp, noted the Tribune.

For Bennett, Chancellor has "out played his contract" from the team, meaning he deserves a raise.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks cornerback star said he misses Chancellor's leadership and "incredible voice in the locker room." Sherman also showed his support to the player, whom he considers "one of the captains" of the team.

"No lobbying. I think he's taking a stand and I support him in whatever he is doing. He's like a brother to me as well. Whenever you take a stand like this you don't get a lot of support from the fans because the fans feel like, you know about honoring contracts. But we understand it's a business," Sherman told the Seattle Times.

The famous cornerback also explained how Chancellor sacrificed for the team. He shared that in the recent Super Bowl, Chancellor had an "80 percent torn MCL" but was seen out on the field, playing his heart out. This shows Chancellor's dedication to the game as he is not just "playing for money."
