iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 Release Date, Rumors, and Leaked Images: The Latest Scoop on Apple's Next Line of Technology
It hasn't been too long since the iPad Air hit the store shelves, but Apple is already talking about introducing not only the iPad Air 2, but the next generation of the original flavor iPhone -- the iPhone 6!
So what can consumers expect from Apple's latest model products? Let's take a look.
First, let's check out the iPad Air 2. According to MacWorld, this version of the iPad will be, technically, the sixth generation full size iPad, so it should techinically be called the "iPad 6." However, there are two possibilities with this new version of the iPad. The first option is that Apple will create TWO iPads -- the iPad Air 2 (iPad 5a) and the iPad Pro (iPad 6), or just go straight ahead with the iPad Air 2, even though that would technically be the iPad 6.
If they go with the former option, Apple will be following in the tradition of the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro... which, it would seem, would make the most sense from a marketing perspective.
Meanwhile, according to another story on the same site, the iPhone 6 isn't exactly shrouded in secrecy. In the past, of course, Apple's designs were so shrouded in mystery that half the design team, at any given time, didn't know what the interface looked like. The designers of the iPhone 6 state that, like the design of the iPad Air in relation to the traditional iPads, we can expect the new iPhone to have a slimmer, and lighter, design than previous iPhones.
In addition, thanks to Apple securing the patents for LiquidMetal, it looks like the next generation of iPhones will be made with the material. It's suggested, though not confirmed, that the use of LiquidMetal will be able to provide greater durability, especially for the pressure sensors and the switches, which will prevent such things as the lock button failure that was especially common on the iPhone 4.
