iMac 2015 Rumors: OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta Leaks Apple's 4K 21.5-Inch Retina Desktop Computer?
An upcoming screen-size option for iMac desktop computers has been hinted yet again. This time on the OS X 10.11 El Capitan beta.
It can be recalled that Apple has seeded the new operating system to developers on Monday.
According French website Consomac, the latest beta version holds a clue to a 4k 21.5-inch Retina iMac display.
Here are screenshots one and two.
A 4096 x 2304 display option can be seen while maneuvering through the software's display panel. The current iteration of the 21.5-inch iMac does not have the Retina display.
This isn't the first time new products and updates were hinted in this manner. A similar case was reported last June. Click here and here to view the iMac screenshots.
It is speculated the 4K 21.5-inch Retina iMac could be powered by Intel's Iris Pro Graphics 6200. This chipset is part of Intel's latest offering of Broadwell processors. Not only that, Radeon M380 - M395X graphics, which is used in higher-end iMac products, was was also mentioned.
Furthermore, a new Bluetooth remote control was also referenced two months ago.
"A new file inside of El Capitan seems to confirm that Apple has been working on a new Bluetooth Remote Control. According to our scan of the file's contents, this new piece of hardware integrates a dedicated Bluetooth wireless chip, can connect with devices via an infrared sensor, and includes a Multi-Touch trackpad with inertial scrolling support. There is also a reference to what could be Force Touch support, but we are less certain about that. The device also appears to support audio, which could indicate either playback or input for Siri. This file does not exist in earlier, public versions of OS X, nor the OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite release that is also in beta," 9to5Mac reported.
This new controller could be in line with the next generation Apple TV's rumored announcement next month. However that possibility still remains a speculation as the upcoming Apple TV has already been reported to include a remote of its own. The Bluetooth controller could be for another product.
The next-gen Apple TV is rumored to be a thinner and "more polished" version of previous Apple TVs. It will have the A8 system chipset as well as an improved OS that supports Siri voice control. It will come with a remote that now has a touch-pad input, according to Buzz Feed.
