ABC Family's "Shadowhunters" released an exclusive video, "Isabelle Lightwood: Queen of Pyrotechnics," this week that shows Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) practicing the art of sending a fire message.

The "Shadowhunters" behind-the-scenes video shows Isabelle being handed a piece of paper that is on fire. Presumably, the paper has a rune or other script scribbled on it as a message. She tosses the burning paper forward as it disintegrates. According to the "Mortal Instruments" story, the message is then sent and appears to the receiver. Watch below:

We also know that, when she's not sending fire messages, Isabelle wields a whip as a weapon. Toubia posted this Twitter picture in July of practicing her whipping skill:

The men of "Shadowhunters" have been busy perfecting their mystical arts as well. Parabatai are supposed to have each other's backs in battle, but as seen in this Aug. 2 behind-the-scenes video, Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood) and Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) compete in a Parabatai pull up contest:

Meanwhile, "Shadowhunters" executive producer McG spoke at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday and revealed that showrunners want to bring author Cassandra Clare's six-part "Mortal Instruments" novels to life on television, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2013 movie adaption of "Mortal Instruments" bombed at the box office. It was based on the first novel in Clare's six-part series, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." The movie was initially intended to be the first in a film franchise. The plan for sequels were killed the following year after the movie grossed only $31 million domestically.

McG believes the best-selling young adult fantasy novels would perform best as a TV adaptation.

"We're living in a golden age of television," the "Shadowhunters" producer and director said, and he cited the wildly successful book-to-TV adaptation of "Game of Thrones" as an example.

"It takes a lot of hours to tell a story properly," McG said. "So, fingers crossed on that. We still have a long way to go."

"Shadowhunters" is scheduled to premiere in 2016 on ABC Family.
