Philip Seymour Hoffman's funeral on Friday in New York City drew thousands of mourners, despite it being frigidly cold. And amongst those mourners included the Hollywood elite, including Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, director Paul Thomas Anderson, and Joaquin Phoenix. 

According to Reuters, the ceremony was held at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Blanchett was one of the speakers at the funeral along with Anderson, and both declined to comment when approached by the press after the funeral. 

Even some of Hoffman's fans were outside of the funeral, mourning the loss of The Hunger Games actor. "I saw him in 'Long Day's Journey Into Night' and I thought he showed real genius. I am here paying my respects," said a tearful Mary Catherine Wright, who lives nearby. "He is remembered by most people for his movie roles, but I think his theater performances were pretty remarkable."  

Meanwhile, according to The New York Daily News, a publicist for Valentino is currently under fire for sending out an e-mail featuring actress Amy Adams, who was also at Hoffman's funeral, promoting the fact that she carried a $2500 Valentino bag as she walked into the church for Hoffman's funeral service. Almost immediately, the fashion house issued an apology. "We sincerely regret releasing a photo to the media this morning of Amy Adams with a Valentino bag," read a company statement. "We were not aware the photograph was taken while she was attending the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman. It was an innocent mistake, and we apologize to Ms. Adams who was not aware, or a part of, our PR efforts."

A star of film and stage, Hoffman was 46 when he died. He is survived by his long-time partner, Mimi O'Donnell, and their three children -- Cooper, 10, Tallulah, 7, and Willa, 5.
