Sochi 2014 Results: Russian Speedskater Olga Graf Strips In Front of Crowd After Winning Medal
Olga Graf has won Russian's first medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics at Sochi.
The speedskater was in utter jubilation, Graf "totally forgot" that she wore nothing under her uniform and began to unzip her suit after skating 3,000 meters. The bronze medal winner shocked the audience as the unzipped her skintight suit down to her belly button.
After winning her country's first medal, the 30-year-old almost took her victory lap around Adler Arena topless but soon realized her error and quickly zipped her suit up, says ABC News.
Skating for 4 minutes and 3.47 seconds, a personal best for Graf, the crowd cheered and the triumphant athlete proceeded to unzip her clothes.
Graf told the Associated Press via translator, "I totally forgot. We have very good suits and they are very tight. ... You just want to breathe and you want to take off your suit."
Nine MSN writes upon unzipping the suit, it burst open to reveal she had nothing underneath. Grap then put her hand to her mouth in embarrassment, zipped her suit but kept on smiling.
Olga spoke to Sovietsky Sports Daily and admits there was nothing underneath. "We have great suits, they make the body feel light and as a result I wear nothing under them. When I finished the race I forgot about this... In the end, I did not show that much," she mused.
The medalist was very calm and good-humored and said, "But I don't think it will be so bad." Referring to her joke that it might probably end up on YouTube.
On the plus side, Graf has heard from her President and has received thanks. "You brought an unforgettable moment of triumph and utter joy to millions of fans by taking the first medal for our team," says President Vladimir Putin in a statement. We expect she'll be a little more restrained should she meet the president face-to-face.
