Flappy Bird is the game we can't stop playing -- until it vanishes before our very eyes.

The popular online game that was apparently raking in $50,000 per day in ad revenue for the game's creator was too much to handle. A game as simple as a bouncing bird's journey through Mario-like obstacles became so big that the creator, Dong Nguyen, threatened to pull the app from app stores.

Although some thought Nguyen may have been bluffing, he followed through and took the app down altogether, shattering the hearts of the people who were so addicted to the game.

However, there is still hope for people who are that desperate for the game -- as long as you have the money. Although people can no longer download the game, it can still be played on devices that already have it. People can even enjoy cheats and hacks to get even further into the game. Cheat videos can be found on YouTube.

With this being said, it comes as no surprise that iPhones equipped with the game are becoming a hot commodity overnight. As of Monday -- just a day after the game officially was removed from app stores -- iPhones with the game on it were being sold on eBay for nearly $100,000.

People first learned that the game would be on its way out when Nguyen posted a tweet on Saturday.

"I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down," he said. "I cannot take this anymore."

The news immediately made a splash on social media and news websites as users scrambled to download the game before it was removed.

"It is not anything related to legal issues," he said shortly after. "I just cannot keep it anymore."

Then, before we knew it, the game was taken down.
