Lenovo Tab 2 A8 Specs, Price Review: A Cheap and Basic Tablet for Casual Use
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8 will not surprise its owners with a vibrant display or ultra-fast performance, but it is an extremely affordable tablet that will perform basic web browsing, checking e-mail and stream video.
The major benefit of the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 is its price. For just $129, buyers get a tablet with a microSD slot, Android 5.0, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, CNET reports.
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8 has an 8-inch screen, but it is heavy and thick. The tablet weighs in at 0.79 pounds, which is heavier than the Amazon Fire HD 7, the Dell Venue 7 and the LG G Pad 7.0. Although it is a heavy and thick tablet, the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 is actually comfortable to hold with its matte finish on the back.
The microSD slot can be found on the top-left corner of the tablet. This slot allows for storage expansion of up to 32 GB. On the right side is the volume rocker and the power button, with the volume rocker being above the power button. Most tablets have the power button closer to the top of the device, but the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 reverses these two buttons.
Pre-loaded with a pure version of Android Lollipop 5.0, the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 includes some of its own apps too. There is a nice app tray that allows easy access to all the apps from one location. Lenovo's own apps include a browser, contacts and calendar app. These apps are useful for novice users, but not necessary.
Because the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 is a budget tablet, it comes with mostly simple internals. The quad-core Mediatek processor comes in at only 1.3 GHz and there is just 1 GB of RAM. Performing multiple or complex tasks will lead to slow performance that is noticeable to the user. Finally, the screen displays just a 1,200 x 800 resolution.
Anything besides basic gaming will run slowly on the Lenovo Tab 2 A8, so that is not recommended. However, users who just want to send e-mails and browse the web should be happy with this ultra-affordable tablet.
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8 can be purchased for $129.99 from Amazon.
