Barbara Kean of "Gotham" has become a dangerous element. While it's unclear what future lies ahead for the budding criminal during the second season, we do know that the actress portraying Kean recently spoke about the possibility of a revelation as The Joker or Harley Quinn.

Comic-Con International in San Diego gave actress Erin Richards an opportunity to address numerous rumors surrounding her character, including speculation that Barbara Kean will become "Gotham's" Harley Quinn. She additionally discussed what might happen between her character and ex-fiancé, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), and the darkness and mayhem that lie ahead.

Kean is a good girl gone horribly bad. The former flame of GCPD Det. Gordon and the art gallery owner from a well-to-do family was never quite the same after she was captured and brainwashed by serial killer The Ogre. Following that event, Kean murdered her parents, attempted to put an end to Jim's new beau Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), and is currently doing a stint at Arkham Asylum.

When Richards was asked if Kean can find redemption after her terrible deeds, Richards responded, "Is that what you want to see? Do you want to see redemption? I want to see violence. More violence. She does not redeem herself. She just goes even more into the darkness. It's not going to be an easy path, but it's going to be a really fun one. She's like a tiger that's been let out of the cage. It's been great to play."

Richards went on to discuss Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), who is rumored to be the Joker, as well as others she'll become acquainted with in the Arkham Asylum. Apparently, each character in the asylum will help to shape her, and she'll be able to sharpen her best skill, which is recognizing everyone else's weakness. Kean's growth during the second season will expose her as "really powerful," and it'll be easier to see her dark side.

Richards confessed that she secretly hopes that her character becomes the Joker, although she could become Harley Queen or "could be her own villain." Also, the actress dished on the Barbara-Jim relationship, saying, "they might not be right for each other right now, but they are drawn to each other, like magnets."

More "Barbara" than she's ever been, the character has peeled away layers and tapped into the darkness. However, just because she's in a really dark place, it doesn't mean that she can never return to the light.
