Skrillex Sued By Fan For Stroke-Causing Stage Dive
Suffering a stroke after attending a dubstep concert? Now that's publicity. But seriously, a concert-goer by the name of Jennifer Fraissl is suing famed DJ Skrillex for stage diving on her which caused her to suffer a stroke, TMZ reports. As if listening to dubstep music isn't enough to cause a stroke, or internal bleeding, or hiccups at the very least.
According to Fraissl's account, the incident took place in Feb. 2012 when The Belasco in downtown L.A. hosted a Skrillex concert. She was standing near the stage when the DJ stood on his table and motioned the crowd to move closer in preparation for his gravity-defying move. The movement of the crowd prevented Fraissl from moving away from Skrillex's landing zone.
She claimed that she suffered several injuries from the incident which later on led to a stroke. Aside from Skrillex, she is also suing The Belasco because it failed to enforce proper safety measures during the event which led to the performer's reckless behavior.
But Skrillex is known for his stage dives during live performances, and one can't really expect the dubstep crowd to be all prim and proper during concerts.
Here's a video obtained by TMZ of Skrillex stage diving from his table. Although it is unverified if this was the exact incident, it closely fits Fraissl's account.
If this was the event Fraissl was talking about, and if you look closely at the video, the DJ was caught by the hands of the fans, preventing him from landing on anyone. But even if Skrillex didn't fall on a fan, the back-and-forth movement of the crowd based in the video could have easily led to a person getting seriously injured.
This is not the first time for the dubstep poster boy to face court charges. Back in October of last year, he was sued for copyright infringement after his track "Killing Everybody," was accused of containing an unauthorized sample. As ridiculous as it may sound, the alleged sample was a recording of the complainant's five-minute long fart.
