Warner Bros. has found its latest project with the big screen adaptation of the video game "Batman: Arkham," Venture Beat reports.

"Arkham" will be an animated movie based on the Arkham series of video games. It will be part of the DC-based movies universe, similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As to the upcoming movie's central story, it is still unclear since there are numerous titles under the "Arkham" series.

However, director Jay Oliva told The Hollywood Reporter, "We can do original content, we can do New 52 stuff." The New 52 the director is referring to are the 52 reboots of new #1 issues of famous DC comics which were launched in 2011.

Troy Baker and Nolan North, the voices behind the Joker and The Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot will be reprising their roles in the upcoming animated film.

As part of DC's animated film projects, "Batman: Arkham" will follow the release of "Justice League: War," and "Son of Batman."

James Tucker, producer of "Justice League: War," said, "This will definitely be the first salvo in doing new movies that are in continuity with each other." He added, "Our next movie is going to be the 'Son of Batman,' and that Batman will be the same Batman that you see in 'Justice League: War.' Basically, we'll have two concurrent series of Justice League movies and Batman movies, and they'll be in continuity of each other. So it's kind of world-building.  

According to Tucker, at this point, Warner Bros is planning to release three DC animated films each year. Two of which will focus on the "Justice League: War" universe while the third is a standalone film. For this year, "Arkham" is the third film.

"Justice League: War" was released last February 4 while "Son of Batman" will be available on May 6 of this year. There is no word yet on the projected released date for "Batman: Arkham."
