Jeremy Lin News: Five Reasons He Will Help the Charlotte Hornets This Season
Ealier this offseason, the Charlotte Hornets signed former New York Knick and Los Angeles Laker Jeremy Lin to a 2-year $4.3 million deal, reported Yahoo Sports. The Hornets picked up a legitimate point guard who can score. With that in mind, here are the top five reasons why Lin will help the Hornets this season:
5. When given the chance, he can score: If given a chance, Lin can score bucket-loads. Last season with the Lakers, Lin averaged 11.2 PPG and 4.6 APG. Given the fact that he used to play on the same team as Kobe Bryant shows a lot. He basically carried that team during that time with the Knicks. With Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson in the lineup, dont be surprised if Lin gets more opportunities to score.
4. He can play defense mainly getting steals: Perhaps the most underrated part of Lin's game is his ability to get steals. Last season, he average 1.1 SPG. If he can produce these type of numbers, then he can help out the defense.
3. His skill set: As a lead guard in the NBA, you have to be able to navigate traffic and run the offense in a pick and roll. Making split decisions on reading the defense is what separates the good and the bad when it comes to point guards. Lin has shown the ability to make those reads and execute them against aggressive defensive schemes.
2. His 3-point shooting: The Hornets finished dead last in three-point shooting last year. Lin had a career year shooting 36.9 percent from beyond the arc. They need his three-point shooting.
1. His experience: The Hornets are a young team and Lin brings a lot of experience to the team. With Al Jefferson, Lin can provide leadership to a team that needs it.
