Michael Jordan and Yvette Prieto Baby: MJ's Wife Gives Birth to Twin Girls, Basketball Great Now a Dad for the Fifth Time
Legendary Chicago Bulls player Michael "Air" Jordan is really down to Earth today. Why's that? Well, his stunning wife Yvette Prieto gave birth to beautiful twin girls over the weekend. It's Prieto and Jordan's first children together as a couple. Jordan and Prieto got married last April in Palm Beach, Florida so they didn't waste anytime getting a family started.
Jordan now has nearly as many children (five) as he does championship rings (six). Jordan has three grown children with ex-wife Juanita Vanoy. He and Vanoy had a very messy and expensive divorce that finally concluded in 2006. Prieto didn't have any children before giving birth to her twin girls.
The Associated Press broke the story after hearing from Jordan's longtime spokeswoman Estee Portnoy.
"Michael and Yvette Jordan are thrilled to announce that their identical twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel, were born Sunday, February 9, 2014 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Yvette and the babies are doing well and the family is overjoyed at their arrival," Portnoy said.
So besides being happily married, what has Jordan been up to since hanging up his sneakers after the 2002-03 NBA season? Well, he became a high-raking executive with the Washington Wizards, his second and last NBA team. He later left that position and bought a majority stake in the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats. The Charlotte Bobcats will be renamed the Charlotte Hornets after the conclusion of the 2014-15 season. Jordan is the NBA's first African-American team owner.
And what does Mrs. Jordan do? Yvette Prieto is a former model. According to PEOPLE online, she met Air Jordan at a Miami nightclub back in 2008. She moved in with Jordan a year later and the happy couple never looked back. Good for them.
Will Jordan encourage his two daughters to play basketball when they are a bit older? Perhaps they will choose their dad's second best sport, baseball, instead. Either way they should be very gifted athletically.
