Real Madrid are still interested in acquiring David De Gea and have reportedly offered a lucrative signing-on bonus to convince the goalkeeper to see out his final year with Manchester United.

De Gea has long been linked to Real Madrid after the Spanish La Liga powerhouse club parted ways with Iker Casillas during the offseason. However, Real Madrid prefer to wait for De Gea to become a free agent next offseason in order to save a huge amount of money.

According to Mirror UK, Real Madrid tendered a £12m signing-on offer to De Gea if he decides to play out his final year at Old Trafford. Los Blancos are eager to acquire the Spain international, but getting him for free next summer is the more ideal option for them.

According to Express UK, Real Madrid offered a fee of £25m before the new season started, but Manchester United asked for £35m.

Manchester United Louis van Gaal also wanted to acquire Sergio Ramos as part of the deal for De Gea. However, Real Madrid did not budge, and reports on Monday confirmed that the 29-year-old will stay at Bernabeu after signing a fresh five-year contract with the club.

If the reports about the signing-on offer are true, Manchester United will become big losers if they stand firm on their demand for a lucrative fee.

If they decide to keep their asking price for De Gea, they could lose the 24-year-old goalkeeper after the current season for nothing. They could offer a new deal to De Gea, but the Madrid, Spain native looks determined to move to his native country soon.

De Gea has not played for Manchester United this season. Van Gaal told reporters last week that the goalkeeper does not want to play for them, and was clearly affected by the transfer rumors.

"We had been observing him in preparation, he was not so good, he was not the same David de Gea as before," Van Gaal told The Guardian. "He was my best player last season. According to the fans, he was the best of the last two years."

Van Gaal's comment did not sit well with De Gea, who was reportedly "baffled" by claims about his desire to play for Manchester United. According to Daily Mail, De Gea believes he trained hard enough to play in their first two English Premier League games this season.
