Xbox One Update: Microsoft Brings Something that No Other Gaming Console has Ever Done
In a recent GameSpot interview, Xbox executive, Kudo Tsunoda, said that there has been a lot going on in the Xbox One that no other gaming consoles have ever done. He even mentioned a few features that are unavailable to other gaming consoles.
For instance, Xbox One's backward compatibility has allowed its users to integrate selected games from Xbox 360. Users do not need to put all their Xbox 360 games to waste because of the backwards compatibility feature. The cross-buy and cross-play features allow Xbox players to purchase in-game downloadables, allowing them to cross-play between Xbox One and PC.
The cross-play feature has enabled gamers to play with each other regardless of the type of gaming platform they are in. This time, Microsoft has bridged the gap of those who wish to compete with each other, but do not see the possibility of that before.
"For a long time we've had PC gamers and console gamers who weren't really able to play together," Tsunoda says, as reported by gamesindustry.biz. "That's why Cross-Play is still such a powerful idea. You should be able to play what you love, and play together, regardless of what device you're playing on. It's about connecting people," he adds.
According to Attack of the Fan Boy, the things that actually make Xbox One different from all the other gaming consoles is that players are able to play on any type of devices wherever they want to. The backwards compatibility, however, has been the greatest feature of Xbox that is not available on Sony's PS4.
Tsunoda also pointed out that Xbox has a lot more to offer when it comes to exclusive games, and that's something others have not been able to compete with.
With Xbox announcing their team-up with PC games, the cross-buy between the two companies only offered marginalized DLC and in-games at the meantime. The exclusive games, Tsunoda mentioned, such as "Fable Legends," "Rise of the Tomb Raider," "Forza Motor Sport 6," "Halo 5: Guardians" and the "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition," will be coming this year.
Sony admitted that their PlayStation-exclusive game lineup has been very limited compared to that of Xbox, according to a separate report from GameSpot.
Andrew House from Sony said that at the moment, they may need to depend on third-party games until such time that they can provide ample first-party lineup for their fans. For Sony, they already have delayed significant first-party games such as the "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" and "Ratchet and Clank."
