A judge in the Aaron Hernandez murder case has ordered a still-unidentified tipster to testify under oath about information she may have about a biased juror who convicted the former NFL star on murder charges.

TMZ Sports reports jurors for the now jailed Hernandez have been in touch with a woman who claims "she recognized one of the jurors as someone familiar with Odin Lloyd's murder, and was angling to get on the jury panel."

Up until now, the woman has refused to publicly identify herself, but after much prodding from Hernandez's defense team, the judge's order will now compel her to submit to a grilling by both sides' legal teams behind closed doors.

The proceedings could be the first step in Hernandez being granted a new trial in the June 2013 execution style killing of Lloyd, which prosecutors have contended was at least partly brought on by Lloyd having information about other violent crimes Hernandez may have been involved in.

Recently, Hernandez's fiancée Shayanna Jenkins announced she was taking his name and a Rhode Island judge approved the matter. The two have a 2-year-old daughter together.

Hernandez, 25, also faces an upcoming trial on double murder charges stemming from the 2010 drive-by shooting deaths of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu outside a nightclub in downtown Boston. In that incident, prosecutors allege Hernandez opened fire on both of the unsuspecting victims as they sat at a red light after one of them spilled a drink on him earlier in the evening and failed to apologize.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the case and trial is expected to commence sometime later this year. Currently, Hernandez is being held at the Souza-Baranowski maximum security facility.
