Lifetime's comedy-drama series "Devious Maids" has attracted millions upon millions of viewers during its lifespan -- individuals who fall in line to keep up with their favorite resourceful domestics, Carmen, Rosie, Zolia and Marisol. However, rumors have begun to circulate that the season finale, "Anatomy of a Murder," may be a series finale instead.

While the first season of the budding drama routinely reached about 2.5 million U.S. viewers, significantly fewer viewers opted to tune in during the second season and third season of the series, possibly foreshadowing an early departure for the show.

The viewership dropped about 30 percent between the two seasons, and the second season of the show only broke 2 million viewers once, during the finale, "Look Back in Anger," earning 2.23 million viewers. Furthermore, the third season has earned even lower viewers than the second. With just one episode left, the season has only earned 1.5 million viewers during a single episode, "Suspicion," which aired Aug. 17. The episode earned 1.52 million views.

The third season kicked off on June 1, and had 1.465 million viewers with a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That being 25 percent less viewers than last year's season premiere. The third season has averaged a 0.46 demo rating with 1.32 million, which is low compared to Season 1's 0.89 demo rating with 2.53 million average viewers.

The show has a large attractive cast, with Roselyn Sánchez, Judy Reyes, Edy Ganem, Tom Irwin, Rebecca Wisocky, Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Brett Cullen, Grant Show, Susan Lucci, Drew Van Acker, Naya Rivera, Gilles Marini, Nathan Owens, Ivan Hernandez, Brianna Brown and John O'Hurley appearing as series regulars or reoccurring characters during the third season to the show.

Enthusiasts are hopeful that the high-profile series won't suffer the same fate as other Lifetime series, such as "The Lottery" and "Witches of East End."

The season finale of "Devious Maids" will air Sunday, Aug. 24 on Lifetime.
