With Peter Capaldi hinting in leaving "Doctor Who" soon, Haley Atwell of "Agent Carter" expressed her interest in playing the role of "Doctor Who."

According to Metro, Capaldi touched the topic of the "Doctor Who" cast during his interview. The actor implied that while he enjoyed being part of the show, his time with it would soon expire. What seemingly looked like a laid-back interview and an honest answer from the show's lead actor was taken into concept by some Haley Atwell fans. On Twitter, they asked the question if she wanted to play the role of Doctor Who or not.

In a Twitter post by @ohmyjl she asked, "Would you like to be on Doctor Who??" to which the actress responded saying, "I'd like to BE Doctor Who."

Others in the industry also expressed their agreement on a female Doctor Who, even Peter Capaldi was into the idea of a female lead. In a report by ScreenRant, the idea of a female "Doctor Who" may have been predominant, but others are just not into the idea. While fans have been following the show and many have found comfort on a male lead role, the idea of a female playing the role of Doctor Who may eventually entice them after decades of casting a male lead.

Hayley Atwell may have gained support to play the part, but AL Kennedy, the author of the story. insisted that there can never be a female Doctor Who as the character was built to stay "bokey," per Daily Mail.

The report also said that the show can feature excellent female characters, but will not consider casting one as Doctor Who. A male guy with an undomestic infused character is one of Doctor Who's many eccentric characters. The amazing but difficult character of Doctor Who cannot be reinstated to a woman according to the author. If ever she considers a female Doctor, she will choose Tilda Swinton despite knowing how busy her schedule is.

When asked about her reason why she would not consider a female Doctor Who, she said, "He's kind of a got a guy-vibe. A hopeless, un-domestic, dozy, dreamy guy type of eccentricity. It's not a girl type of eccentricity. I'd be surprised if she hanged gender."

Could this be the end of Hayley Atwell's hope of becoming Doctor Who or a challenge to get in to that she could play the part of a female Doctor?
