Matt Barnes seems to have questions about Rihanna's maturity level after the "Umbrella" singer brushed aside rumors that the two were dating by claiming she's never even met the NBA veteran forward.

"I'm too grown to lie," Complex magazine reports Barnes responded during an appearance on "The Jim Rome Show" on Tuesday. "You know what I mean? It is what it is. I'm going to let this blow by like everything else blows by."

Just days before, the 35-year-old Barnes told TMZ he and the 'Rude Boy' singer had been romantically involved and might soon be a couple.

"Rihanna is my friend right now, so we'll see where it goes," he said, later adding, "I think it just past the crush stage a little bit. Just a little bit, though."

So little that Rihanna couldn't seem to remember any of it, not to mention saw fit to immediately take to Instagram to create the humor-filled hashtags "#ShesNotThatIntoYou, #ShesNotInToYouAtAll" and "#She'sNeverEvenMetYou."

Prior to Rihanna's diss, Barnes was asked if he though recently be dealt from L.A. and the Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies might put a damper on their budding relationship given all the time the multi-platinum singer spends in Hollywood.

"She's rich," he said. "We'll be alright."

Now faced with RiRi's public rejection, Barnes seems to have resigned himself to the position maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

"I just smiled, that's it," he said. "What can you do? At the end of the day, we're all grown-ups. Like I said, I'm too grown to be lying about stuff, but life is life. You live and you learn."

Meanwhile, Chris Brown's ex has recently been linked to Formula 1 racing champion Lewis Hamilton. Just last week, the two were spied vacationing in her native Barbados together.
