Are Disney and Marvel ready to continue doing their best to avoid killing off characters in the Marvel Universe?

It has become a major issue with the franchise as a whole, with each surviving character showing a world lacking in any real emotional stakes. How could one believe that the world has any chance of true turmoil when all of its numerous superpowered guardians will always be around to save it?

Despite the studio doing its utmost to avoid killing off major franchise characters, there have been instances when characters have bitten the dust. Phil Coulson in the first "Avengers" and Quicksilver in the second.

Yet, neither of these characters seems to be ready to remain dead for long. Coulson was revived for the S.H.I.E.L.D. series, and now there are rumors that Quicksilver might endure a similar resurrection.

The Christian Post notes that the actor "also spilled that Marvel had a costume designed for him if he didn't die. Does this mean that the viewers get to see him one more time in the next movie? There are no details to that yet but the debonair actor did make a remark that 'it was definitely an alternative.'"

There has been no concrete evidence that Marvel will be moving in that direction for the upcoming "Avengers 3: Infinity Wars" film. That said, the cast has yet to be revealed for the film, and Marvel is not new to resurrecting characters.

As noted, Coulson was brought back to life, but he is not the only other example. In "Thor: The Dark World," Loki was killed, only for the film's final shot to reveal that he was, in fact, alive. In "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," Nick Fury was seemingly killed off, only to make a return later in the film.

The reality is that Marvel has never been able to let go, obviously because killing off a major player could undermine the marketing machine that has been built so cautiously and potently around this cinematic universe.

Moreover, Quicksilver also seems to have endured a rather hasty demise. After being introduced in the end credits of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," he underwent a quick progression and development in "Age of Ultron," only to be murdered rather quickly. It is possible that Marvel would want to explore this character further, adding more depth to a character ultimately underused in his first movie.

Will Quicksilver make a return in the franchise or will Marvel stick to its guns and keep him dead?
